Why We Install Fox Shocks

We stock and install a lot of shock brands, and Fox earns its spot as our most-installed for a simple reason: it hits the value-to-performance sweet spot better than anything else. A set of Fox shocks transforms how a truck rides and controls — on the highway, on washboard, and at speed in the dirt — without the boutique price of a full race shock.

Fox also has the broadest fitment in the business, so whatever you drive, there is a proven Fox application for it. That breadth, plus genuinely good engineering — better oil capacity, heat management, and damping control than factory shocks — is why they show up on so many of our coilover and lift builds.

What we will not do is treat a Fox shock as a magic bolt-on. The performance comes from matching the right series and valving to your truck and dialing it in. That is the part a parts-counter sale skips and we never do.

Fox Shock & Coilover Lines We Install

From a value performance shock to a reservoir-equipped, adjustable coilover, here are the Fox lines we build with most — matched to your weight and how hard you run it.

Value Performance

Fox 2.0 Performance Series

The everyday-hero Fox shock. A big step up from factory in ride and control for daily, trail, and overland use, at an attainable price. Where most street-and-trail builds start with Fox. It is also the shock that ships in most BDS kits, so if you are shopping a complete bolt-in system rather than shocks on their own, that is the same damper arriving as part of a matched package.

Step Up

Fox 2.5 with Reservoir

A larger body and piston with more oil and often a reservoir and DSC adjuster — runs cooler under sustained abuse and resists fade on long, fast dirt. The pick for heavier rigs and more aggressive use.

Ride Height

Fox Coilovers

Front coilovers that combine the spring and damper with ride-height adjustment and serious damping control — ideal when a truck carries front armor or you want the front dialed for your exact load.

High-Speed

Internal Bypass

Position-sensitive internal-bypass shocks that stay plush in the middle of travel and firm up near the ends — the high-speed-desert choice for soaking up whoops without bottoming. Tuned to your terrain.

Fox vs King Shocks — and Getting the Tune Right

The question we get most is Fox versus King. The honest answer: both are top-tier, and the right one depends on your budget and how hard you run. Fox is the value-and-performance champion with unmatched fitment; King is the boutique, rebuildable, race-bred option for the no-compromise crowd. Either way, the install and tune decide whether you get the performance you paid for.

We also build with Bilstein when a more budget-focused upgrade fits — we are not loyal to a logo, we are loyal to matching the right shock to your truck. Fox is a natural fit on Wrangler builds with Fox shocks and equally proven on Tacoma builds with Fox shocks.

Matched to Your Weight

A bumper, winch, drawers, and tires change what your suspension needs to control. We spec the Fox series, spring rate, and valving to your loaded weight so the shock works with the rest of the build, not against it.

Set Up & Dialed

On adjustable Fox shocks, we set the clicker and ride height and fine-tune them during the road test for your terrain. An off-the-shelf shock left at default leaves real performance on the table.

Installed With the Build

Shocks go in alongside the lift, geometry correction, and a full alignment so the whole package works together. We do not bolt shocks onto a tired or misaligned front end and call it done.

Fox Shocks Questions, Answered

For most builds, yes. Fox shocks offer a big jump in ride quality and control over a factory or budget shock — better heat management on long dirt roads, less fade, and a more composed ride on and off pavement — at a price that is attainable. The value sweet spot is real, which is why Fox is the brand we install most. They are worth it when they are matched to your weight and use and installed and tuned correctly, which is the part that actually matters.
Both are excellent; they sit at slightly different points. Fox offers outstanding performance and the broadest fitment at a more accessible price, which makes it the right call for most street-and-trail and overland builds. King is a boutique, fully rebuildable, race-bred shock that rewards hard desert use and owners who want the absolute top tier and plan to revalve over time. If you want the best value and proven performance, Fox; if you want the no-compromise race pedigree and rebuildability, King. We build both and will steer you straight.
The number is the shock body diameter. The Fox 2.0 is a fantastic value performance shock for daily-and-trail use. The Fox 2.5 has a larger body and piston, holds more oil, runs cooler under sustained abuse, and is commonly offered with a reservoir and adjusters — the step up for heavier rigs, more aggressive use, and high-speed dirt. We match the series to your weight and how hard you run it rather than just selling the bigger number.
Yes. A shock is only as good as how it is matched and set up — spring rate, valving, and on adjustable models the clicker settings all have to suit your weight, tires, and terrain. We spec the right Fox for your build, set it up, and dial the adjusters during the road test. An off-the-shelf shock installed and left at default settings leaves a lot of the performance on the table.
