A lift without an alignment eats tires, wanders, and on a solid axle invites death wobble. We do off-road alignments with proper caster correction on lifted trucks and Jeeps — and include it on every build we do.
Change a truck's ride height and you change every suspension angle, full stop. Even a two-inch leveling kit rotates the geometry enough to throw off camber, caster, and toe. The truck might look great in the driveway and feel fine for a week — then it is feathering the inside edges of brand-new tires and wandering on I-10.
This is the most common, most expensive corner that gets cut. A quick-lube bay slaps on a leveling kit, skips the alignment to hit a price point, and the customer eats a set of tires six months later. We treat the alignment as part of the lift, not an upsell — because a lift is not finished until the geometry is set right.
On solid-axle rigs there is an even bigger reason: lost caster is a primary cause of death wobble — and specifically death wobble that starts after a lift. Restoring it is alignment work, and it is exactly the kind of thing a general shop is not equipped to do. Every lift and leveling kit we install ends on our alignment rack.

A lifted-truck alignment is about more than toe. These are the four angles we set — and caster is the one a lifted 4x4 lives or dies on.
Caster gives straight-line stability and self-centering. Lifting reduces it, causing wander and, on solid axles, death wobble. Caster correction through adjustable control arms or correction parts restores it. The most important fix on a lifted 4x4.
Camber is the inward or outward tilt of the tire. A lift can push it out of spec, which wears the tire edges and hurts handling. We set camber back into range — with correction parts on independent suspensions where the lift demands it.
Toe is how parallel the tires point, and it is the angle most sensitive to tire wear — a small error scrubs rubber off fast. New ride height and bigger tires change it, so we set toe precisely on every lifted truck.
Thrust angle is whether the rear axle points straight ahead. If it is off, the truck dog-tracks and the steering wheel sits crooked even when aligned up front. We check and correct it so the rig tracks true down the road.
A proper post-lift alignment solves a lot of problems, but it is not magic. Here is what it does and what has to be handled before the rack.
