We're the 4x4 builders Houston off-road customers trust. One shop. One standard. Every rig we build is one we'd wheel ourselves.
Iron Ridge Off-Road opened in 2013 with a specific conviction: Houston's off-road market didn't need another shop that could bolt on a lift. It needed a shop that understood why a build works — the geometry, the gearing, the terrain, and the rig — and could put all of it together into something that performs when the pavement ends. Learn more about Iron Ridge Off-Road and how we got started.
Founder Cole Harrington had spent eight years at two different Houston shops watching customers leave with builds that looked right but drove wrong. He opened Iron Ridge to do it differently: consult first, build second, align third, and never let a rig leave the bay until someone has driven it. That's still how every build works here.
The team has grown, but the approach hasn't changed. We still turn down builds that aren't right for the platform. We still include the alignment. We still call after the break-in. Explore our build process, see finished rigs in our build gallery, or contact us to start a conversation about your rig.
Four techs, one standard. Every person on the Iron Ridge team runs a built rig and works on customer builds with the same attention they'd give their own. See what customers say about our team across 312+ verified reviews.
Cole founded Iron Ridge in 2013 after eight years as a suspension technician at two Houston off-road shops. His read on what the Houston market needed was simple: a shop where the person who designed the build also signed off on it. He still takes build consults for complex platforms and signs off on every major suspension build before it leaves the bay. His philosophy hasn't changed in twelve years — spec it right the first time, or don't spec it at all.

Fourteen years in metal fabrication — the last seven at Iron Ridge. Dave handles custom bumper builds, cage work, rock slider fabrication, and any build where off-the-shelf hardware isn't the answer. If it needs a TIG welder and a fixture table, it goes to Dave. He manages shop scheduling and quality control on all production builds, and runs the fab side of every showcase build that leaves this shop.

Monica came to Iron Ridge after six years as an alignment tech at a commercial fleet operation. She dialed in her first lifted Wrangler in the IRO parking lot during a lunch break and never went back to fleet work. Every build that leaves Iron Ridge with an alignment — which is every build — has been through Monica's rack and spec sheet. She's also the person who catches worn ball joints and bent tie rods that slip past the initial inspection.

Jake is the first person you meet when you walk into Iron Ridge. He runs every initial consult — asking the questions about terrain, tow ratings, daily driver miles, and budget that most shops skip. He builds the spec sheet, manages the build timeline, coordinates parts, and follows up after every completed job. He's fielded thousands of build conversations over six years at Iron Ridge and has a short memory for overconfident tire sizing recommendations.

Iron Ridge has four operating principles that haven't changed since 2013. They're not marketing language — they're the reason our reviews read the way they do.
If a customer asks for something that won't serve their platform, their terrain, or their use case — we say so before we take the deposit. A regear for a truck that never leaves pavement is a sale we pass on. A 6-inch lift on a platform that doesn't support it is a build we decline. This has cost us revenue. We're comfortable with that.
Every brand on the Iron Ridge approved list has been evaluated by someone on this team who has run it on a personal rig. We don't stock brands based on margin. When we spec a Fox shock or a Metal Cloak UCA, it's because someone here has driven that component on real terrain and knows what it does. That list is shorter than most shops carry.
Every suspension build, every leveling kit, every lift leaves this shop with a full four-wheel alignment. Not an offer. Not an upsell. Standard. If you're not aligned after a suspension change, the build isn't done. We don't release rigs that aren't dialed in because the consequences of skipping it show up on highways and on trails at the worst possible time.
Before a rig leaves the bay, it gets driven — not around the parking lot, but on real road surfaces that will surface noise, pull, vibration, or anything that didn't get caught on the lift. The technician who built it drives it first. If something is off, it goes back up before the customer sees it. This adds time. It's worth it every single time.
Iron Ridge Off-Road is located on Westheimer Rd in Houston. Our customers come from across the Greater Houston metro — some driving over an hour each way for a build they can't find closer to home.
